An Apple Coffee Cake provides you with a healthier alternative to the usual snack foods. But, since you should not have to compromise taste for health, this cake offers a delicious flavor, making it a smart choice for your day.

Taste is essential when selecting something to eat (or to serve, if you happen to be needing a dessert for an event). It should not be the only thing you consider, however. Today, people are more aware of their health and are trying to make conscious choices to improve. These choices can extend down to something as simple as a coffee cake.

Yes, you heard us right: even your coffee cake selection can be a way to step toward a better life. That is why we suggest this cake. This is simply a better way to snack. Why, you ask? What makes this so special? We will explain.

The apple cake does not require heavy doses of oil for moisture; the apples you provide keep it soft naturally. So, without having to dump in so much oil, you can cut back on saturated fats, sodium and even cholesterol. This certainly is an improvement over some cakes, which can be high in all three areas.

That is not to say, however, that you can only eat this particular coffee cake. You can have the others, all chocolate covered and stuffed with filling. There is nothing wrong with an occasional piece.

There is something wrong, though, with refusing to try something as good as an apple coffee cake recipe just because it is deemed "healthier". Do not let the idea that food that is better for your body cannot hold up to your standards of taste. It can.And this apple coffee cake recipe certainly does.

If you are worried that apples will not soothe your taste-craving tongue, however, we also offer some extras you can put in the batter to spice up your cake. Consider using a teaspoon of cinnamon with your apple coffee cake since it always provides a nice contrast with the sweeter apples. Also, you can mix other fruits in as well. Smaller pieces, like raisins for example, can provide more texture to your coffee cake and still give other layers of flavor.

Your coffee cake is not just limited to apples (despite the name) and you can use healthy extras to make it as you want.

Whether you are looking for something to serve at a party, or just want something to snack on during the day that won't cost you your diet, this cake should do the trick. It is lower in fat and sodium, but not low on taste. It is sure to satisfy your cravings without ruining your diet plans.

This apple coffee cake recipe is easy to make, easy to eat and, better still, easy on your health. What more could you ask for? Well, how about an apple coffee cake recipe to give it a try?

6 apples, pared & sliced (3 cups)
5 tablespoons sugar
5 teaspoons cinnamon
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup oil
4 eggs
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon vanilla

Combine apples, 5 Tablespoons sugar and 5 teaspoons cinnamon; set aside. Sift the 3 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Make a well in the center and pour in oil, eggs, orange juice and vanilla. Spoon 1/3 of batter into a greased 9" tube or bundt pan. Make a ring of 1/2 the apples on top of the batter. Be sure to drain any excess moisture. Don’t let the apple mixture touch the sides of the pan.. Spoon 1/3 batter on top and make a ring of the remaining apples. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes in a 375 degree Fahrenheit oven. Cover top with foil if it begins to over-brown. Cool.

So, start baking (throw in the extra fruits if you want) and discover how healthy food can actually taste good.
