An Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake adds an unique, but oh so delicious, touch to any afternoon gathering. Worried about what to serve your guests? Don't be. This cake will have them all excited.

We all enjoy gathering our friends together for an afternoon of good conversation and good food. This is not always a simple thing to pull off, however. Meals can turn quickly awkward, just as any chat can, if your food does not live up to the standards you have built up in your guests' minds.

If you say, "Oh, I have a wonderful new recipe for you all to try; I used it today", then they expect a wonderful treat. Serving something mediocre and typical can turn any party into a letdown. That is why you need something that will match, if not exceed, their expectations. A apple cinnamon coffee cake will certainly do that.

Set the mood for your afternoon gathering in grand style with this apple cinnamon coffee cake recipe. When you bring it out, your friends are sure to smile. It looks as delicious as it tastes, and that is no easy feat.

And, unlike other cakes, the apple cinnamon coffee cake recipe can be made without using sugars and other fattening ingredients (at least, not to the same extent). You can present a cake that will not head straight for the waist line in one slice, something your guests will certainly appreciate.

The apple cinnamon coffee cake recipe can be made using sugar substitutes, like Splenda, to reduce calories but not taste. Also, you can use reduced margarine or butter, once again cutting back on the fats and calories without losing the flavor. Here, the main event is not the sugar but instead the apples.

By using just two granny smith apples, you can create a apple cinnamon coffee cake that will serve sixteen (or less, since most people will probably want a second slice). This use of fruit, and a teaspoon of ground cinnamon for an extra spicy flavor, make a wonderful alternative to the usual coffee cake choices.

You can eat something that is not too sweet or too thick, a hazard of other cakes.

Instead, you can enjoy something that uses the natural sweetening powers of fruit, and can easily use sugar alternatives, for a crisp, delicious flavor that won't fall to your hips.

The apple cinnamon coffee cake will help create a perfect day for your party. If you find the conversation lagging, you can all at least spend time bragging about the cake. And you can also spend your minutes reciting out the recipe... or not, if you want to keep it all to yourself. We won't tell.

Your afternoon event with your friends will be topped off by a perfect food, and that can make all the difference between an awkward day and a great one. Why not treat yourself, and your guests, to something different? We certainly recommend the apple cinnamon coffee cake.

Want to give it a try? Here’s how:

6-8 medium apples
2 1/4 cups sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
4 eggs
1/2 cup orange juice (any fruit juice may be used)
1 cup oil
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3 teaspoons baking powder
3 cups flour

Grease and flour tube pan. Peel apples and cut into thin slices. Add 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon; set aside. Beat eggs and orange juice by hand. Continue to beat by hand while adding oil and 1 3/4 cups sugar. Add vanilla, baking powder, and flour, mixing well. Layer batter, apples, batter, and remaining apples in tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours.

And, once you make one, you will see why.
