Please bring back Nescafe Hazelnut Instant Coffee in large canisters

by Amy Sue

Call their toll free number 1-800-505-2876 & ask them to bring the 6.1 Hazelnut canisters

back. The new singles packs are not only too small to make a good cup of coffee but they are not environmentally friendly. Too much packaging for such a small amount of product. Not to mention that they are difficult to open. They will listen to our feedback if enough people call. 1-800-505-2876 November 16, 2009

I want my Hazelnut!!! NEW
by: Anonymous

I absolutely miss my Hazelnut in the canister... I don't understand why Nescafe had to go and change a good thing. It now costs more money to use two packets for each cup of coffee. I'll have to find another company to buy from if they don't change back to the canisters. I did send an email to them, and waiting for any responses..

Such a loss, bring back flavored Nescafe Instant Coffees NEW
by: Anonymous

Was just talking with some folks about how much I miss Nescafe flavored instant coffee in the canisters. I gave those little packets a try several times, their pretty awful, so I gave up on those. If ever they bring back the canisters, I will be the first in line. Such a big injustice to the fans of this brand to rid the market of the canisters of the flavored instant coffees they once provided.

Sobeys in Canada
by: Brian

Hello all

I follow this thread all the time.

Just wanted to tell everyone I went to Canada (honeymoon) last week and bought 6 jars of Hazelnut at Sobeys for $7.99 a jar.

By my reckoning, one 150gram jar is equal to 75 packets. I also like the taste a little stronger than one packet will make, so now I can do that.

I am back to one cup every morning. When we run out, it's time for another trip to Canada.

Let's hope we get the jars back in the U.S. or at least . . . . they don't stop selling them in Canada !

Nescafe Hazelnut Instant Coffee in Canada
by: Anonymous

From Randy:
This was submitted to me by a reader to me via email. I thought it would be of help to those of you who live in Canada, or maybe even those who live near the Canadian border. You might even be able to have them ship you coffee if you can find merchants in Canada willing to do so. Anyway, here is the email I received today, 02/10/2012.

I am saved! I live in Ottawa (Canada) and I could not find Hazelnut coffee jars in the supermarkets that used to carry it. So, I called Nestle and they gave me more stores that carry it in my area. I found it at Soby's and I bought 12 jars.
Subsequently, I also found it at Food Basics. The Nestle representative also told my that Walmart carries it, too. All the while I am talking about Canada.

In the U.S. Hazelnut coffee in canisters has been discontinued.

Thanks Brian for giving me the idea to ... buy the store!

This is unbelievable! Every time a good thing hits
the market, it is discontinued for some reason.
PLEASE, BRING IT BACK! It is different to open a
jar of coffee and have the place fill with its fragrance. The packets do not do that. And then you have to calculate how many packets you need, which is not convenient at all.

I've been buying the stuff at Canada Only. Product is identical to the instant coffee that was sold in the U.S. The jar is a different shape but the coffe is the same. It is a little expensive at the Canada Only site when the freight is included...It also takes forever to receive the shipment..That said I just purchased 12 jars and gave them to my Wife for Xmas..She was delighted...Oh...I did give her additional things for Xmas or she wouldn't have been that delighted just getting 12 jars of coffee.

My solution
by: Diana

Refusing to buy those messy, undersized, overpriced Nescafe packets, I've tried various hazelnut-flavored creamers, but they're all sweetened, and I'm a "cream only" person.

I finally found a product called Capella Flavor Drops, which add flavor without sweetness. I use about four drops per cup of their hazelnut flavor; their .4 oz. bottle costs $6, and lasts me for about three months.

What a shame... any comparable recommendations?
by: LL

Hi all,

I too, am at a loss after finding out they had discontinued the canisters. What a waste these single serving packets are causing! And I need more coffee than those packets provide, but not enough to use two whole ones... so awkward and messy!

Beyond trying to obtain the product in Canada, I was wondering if any of you out there had found a comparable (or at least drinkable) substitute hazelnut instant coffee? I'm dying to hear your thoughts!!

Thanks,

LL

Just across the border and a few mouse clicks away . . . who would have thought?

Nescafe Hazelnut in Jar in Canada
by: Maria K

Hi Folks,
I have the same complaints you have regarding the packaging of the Taster's Choice hazelnut coffee. I spend a couple of months in Canada each year and discovered that they have the Nescafe Hazelnut in jars. Maybe we will also get it in the States. It isn't sold under Taster's Choice, but rather under Nescafe only. It is very close to the Taster's Choice small packages.

Stop Your Complaining...
by: Anonymous

...at least that is, here on this website. Please voice your concerns directly to Nescafe, (which is now Nestle) if you really want your opinion heard where it will carry more weight.

This is what I did and their response was that they have received overwhelming positive response to the new packaging, that consumers like you and I requested that something be done about the canisters. They also implied in their answer that realize they can't please everybody, there are always a few discontents and they will miss you. But they had no plans to bring back the canister. They said they would forward my message to the sales team just the same. It was a pretty cold response really... I even provided them a link to this website so that they might peruse it to see what you all are saying.

It's going to take a barrage of emails to Nestle in order for us to be noticed regarding this matter. I urge all to contact them directly at: http://www.nestle.com/Common/Peripherals/Pages/ContactUs.aspx and let your concerns be known!

Please continue to post your comments here as well. Perhaps even your responses you get back from Nestle.

Thanks and keep fighting!...

I took the advice from a post, and bought a 4-cup coffeemaker. I am working my way through the huge selection of hazelnut ground coffees, AND have discovered the JOY of coffee made while I sleep. Oh, technology! I'm referring to the automatic timer on my inexpensive ($20) coffeemaker. So far, Target's Market Pantry Hazelnut is my favorite. In my case, I would say that Nestle's decision to cancel the Hazelnut canisters has cost them this customer.

Who ever thought of the idea of these miserable tiny packages needs their head examined. Mugs that almost everyone enjoys drinking from are at least 12-16 ozs so in order to get enough coffee to make a cup you need to use 2-3 packages. It is too expensive to be praticable & to difficult to open all those tiny packages. The canister were expesive enough be these individual servings are impossible.

ANOTHER DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER
by: dfjohn

I had always regarded Nestle as a premier international firm, but I agree with most posters here and on Amazon that discontinuing the bulk containers of most Tasters Choice varieties seems short-sighted. My wife and I are big coffee drinkers and bought the Hazelnut Tasters Choice in large quantities. When it disappeared, we left the brand completely and have no plans to go back.

It is difficult to swallow the explanation that customers prefer the single serve versions. I have not tried them, but if Nescafe is to be believed, it is the same product formerly available in 6.1 oz canisters. If so, why would I prefer to pay much more for a box that appears to be more plastic and cardboard by weight than it is instant coffee?

Nestle seems indifferent to the ecological damage they are creating, but are they also ignoring the voices of their (former) customers?

Miss the canister
by: Anonymous

The canisters were expensive, but worth the price. The move to individual sticks seems motivated by the desire to boost profit margins.

Because the product is sweet, I like mixing it 50-50 with Classic Nescafe. The individual packets are therefore far less convenient for me. I will not buy them.

I think that Nestle's is being too greedy. Please bring back the canister.

It's ridiculous. When these stupid packets first came out they were at least full. Now if you look they are less than half full. I have had it. I refuse to buy one more box of the hazelnut sticks. If they do not bring back the jar I am not going to buy any of their products again.....EVER. Please bring it back! I am so disappointed that I can't get the large canisters of Hazelnut and French Vanilla Instant coffee! They were so handy and those small packets are just not good for REAL coffee lovers. They have too little coffe in them. Thanks

Do we have hope?
by: Anonymous

I did write to customer service on two occasions. I suggested if they didn't want to put the coffee in the 6.1 ounce cannisters to put it in larger bags or jars...just not those lousy little packets. My Wife and I won't buy the packets because we don't like them and we don't want to support buying this product where the company starts to think we've accepted this product. Someone at Nestles made a decision and I think it is going to take an absolute collapse of sales for them to change their course. I don't know if there are enough diehards like us out there to make a difference. I did not have a problem with their customer service. They did promptly respond in length to my two complaints...just didn't give me the answer I wanted....God help us!

How to Lose Customers
by: Angry Customer

I have purchased over $2,000 of this Hazelnut instant coffee, since it is popular among my staff. The little packets are a joke. It takes 3 to fill a coffee mug. Someone at Amazon.com wants to sell (3) 6 ounce cannisters for $189 - a mark-up of about 600%. At least the company could offer the product, which they still manufacture, in a large container - maybe 24 ounces or more. I am now drinking and brewing Seattle's Best Hazelnut. It is not as easy, nor quite as good as Tasters Choice, but I will not buy the packets and reward the company for its flagrant abuse of customers. Now I am going to look for a good replacement of CoffeeMate, another Nestle product. I do not reward a company that abuses its loyal and profitable customers.

by: Anonymous

Please bring back the the large canisters of Nescafe Hazelnut Instant coffee. It's just not enough coffee in the small packs. and it's difficult to open. I'm trying to hold on but I will have to make a decision very soon to find another brand of coffee. I can not find the canister anywhere. My friend and I drink 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning, we don't want to have to open 6 packages each every morning. It's also a waste of packaging materials. Please bring back the large canisters.

Looks like a coffee version of Toyota. Had a good product and greed stepped in: yes it moves forward, but it (sometimes) cannot stop. Unfortunately, we cannot ask for a recall of the lousy little (and expensive) sticks - so BOYCOTT all Nestle products!

Hazelnut 6.1 Jar
by: Elaine in NJ

My husband has been drinking this coffee for almost 20 years and have seen the product go through some changes - glass jars to plastic - but this latest change to tubes has forced us to switch to another coffee - of course the coffee doesn't even come close to the taste of the Hazelnut - I called the company several times and am totaly disappointed in the customer service - I even suggested larger containers as they sell at the Sams Club - or selling them through the partner web site MY BRANDS - and nothing ----- The call answerer even was convinced the sticks are selling - but where???

I was in a close out store in PA and they couldn't even sell the merchandise they bought with the May 2010 expiration date - had to mark it down to almost $1.00 for 20 sticks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update on new product
by: Amy Sue

Ok everyone, I was the one who started this thread. Nescafe has done nothing about our input and seems not to care much. Until we get more attention and bring back more affordable canisters, I have an alternative solution. I bought one of those 1 cup coffee makers that uses coffee pods. You can get them online anywhere from $20 http://tinyurl.com/ycq6nr8 to $140 http://tinyurl.com/yd6dzrp . I was turned onto them at a hotel, in my room and they work great, make adjustable cups and are the coffee is not that expensive. Here's an example of a coffee maker and also the amazing HAZELNUT coffee pods http://www.coffeewiz.com/Baronet-Pod-Coffee-Hazelnut/ I found that are a GREAT substitute to the Nescafe Hazelnut Instant. Also adding Coffee Mate Coconut Creme creamer add sweetness and more nutty sweet flavor to the hazelnut coffee pods. Hope this helps- let me know waht you think. Until Nescafe listens, we have to look for other options- this is the best I've come up with and it's pretty pretty good!

I have not tried this yet - Hazelnut Instant
by: Anonymous

Besides changing brands from Taster's Choice, I am going to experiment with another brand instant and use non dairy coffee creamer that is available with hazelnut flavor. This doesn't help those who don't use cream but it is an idea.

Hazelnut Instant Coffee
by: Anonymous

For the life of me, I do not know why companies destroy their customer base. Look at Coca Cola for gawds sake. Personally I will handle this by avoiding all Nescafe products or anything else sold by Nestle USA. You can vote with your wallet and walk. I am guessing that some bean counter said unit sales were not high enough. Well you better start thinking about more than counting the beans.

grumble, mumble...

To Stupid Marketeers of TC Instant Hazelnut Coffee
by: Martin Levy

Since some "genius" did away with the canister size, I am reviewing the available, hateful packet size.
The taste was still good. Half of the packs can not be opened without spilling as one has to use such force to rip them open or be bothered to get scissors to cut them open.
What is worse is the outrageous expense per cup compared to the jar size. This is the stupidist marketing decision since the new coke cola. When I wrote to the company about this, some flunckie sent me a coupon for the the product, about which I was complaining. I am drinking tea until I find a replacement brand. Some smart company should fill this niche.

I posted my comment back on 1/2/2010 and I am glad to see that so many coffee lovers are also ready to sell the Brooklyn Bridge to Nestle. It seems to me, though, that nobody at Nestle reads this page, so we are just crying in the wilderness. I am calling their Customer Service (an oxymoron, if ever there was one!)on a weekly basis to complain, but I am just one consumer. They need to hear from more people! Look at the packaging and call the 800 number listed; go to their website and use the "Contact us" page. If they hear from all of us, maybe it will bring them to their senses. (No guarantee, though: the seem to be stupid enough to abandon a well-selling product. They have not heard in Switzerland the old Souther adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!)

My wife and I LOVE Nescafe's Hazelnut Instant and had to purchase a "box" of the new packaging and what a rip off. One packet is not enough - it tastes like water and you have to open at least two of the small packages at way more then I use to pay - bring back the LARGE canisters and I am going to buy my regular coffee elsewhere until Necafe gets there act together.

Nestle is profiteering
by: John

I called and I e-mailed Nestle / Taster's Choice about the new packaging of the instant hazelnut coffee. I pointed out that they are wasting in the packaging and that they are PRICE GOUGING: the "sticks" cost about 2.5 times as much per ounce as the old 6.1 oz canister. Their response: "The new packaging is by popular demand." If you believe that, I have a bridge for sale - it connects Brooklyn to Manhattan and the tolls you could levy would make you rich.
On top of it, suddenly the "sticks" also disappeared from the shelves: people just didn't buy at the high price so the markets stopped ordering. Hey Nestle: stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

I can't tell you how much I miss my hazelnut coffee! The small packets are insufficient size for a good cup of coffee. I have to use at least two of them. Not cost effective at all and the product is hard to find as well. I have purchased the 6 oz. online for anywhere from $13.00 up but now it is much too expensive. I guess this is one way to eliminate my coffee drinking and just use No-doz to keep alert!
