Lost Rubber O-Ring
for Stainless Steel Travel Mug

Question:

I have misplaced the rubber seal for my stainless travel mug that I purchased approximately 11 months ago. I was wondering if it was possible to get a new one because I love my cup it is the only travel mug that I will use even if it leaks.

Answer:
You didn't give me the model or the brand so I cannot give you an exact replacement recommendation. However, if you are talking about the o-ring which seals the cap, then you should be able to pick one up from any hardware store. They usually carry a wide variety of o ring sizes. Another possibility would be checking at an auto parts store, although that might be a long shot.

Here are some O-rings that I could find online:
  • 2.25" Silicone O-Ring
  • O Ring Assortments

    What I Did... NEW
    by: Anonymous

I have two Starbucks stainless mugs that I love. While there are some generic rings on Amazon (and I may try those in the future), I found similar rings on stainless mugs at various thrift shops. For around .75 you can buy a mug (doesn't even have to be stainless) and steal the ring from the lid. This has worked out great for me!

I went to Lowe's, home depot, and a number of hardware store with no luck. Closest thing I found was a sheet of gasket material.

    Jug lid gasket NEW

I think it is a disgrace that STARBUCKS who sells thousands of these mugs, does not sell gaskets for the lids.

Is one supposed to buy a new jug when the gasket wears out?

As a temporary seal I found that toilet tank to bowl gaskets work but they stick out and are red. Still looking.

Same here - did you find one?

It's a long shot whether you'll see this...but here goes. I just lost the gasket to the lid of the same exact mug. Did you find a replacement and if so, where? Thanks.
