Yama Tabletop Vacpot Coffee Siphon & Vacuum Pot - 5 Cup CapacityThe brewer comes with an alcohol burner/warmer which is needed to boil the water which is used to activate the brewing process. Great brewer for making coffee right at the dinner table. Also useful for restaurants and small diners. A cup is equal to about 3 to 4 ounces. To use you will need to use grounds that are slightly finer such as drip grind coffee grounds. Get the reusable cloth filter and drop it into the infusion chamber allowing the chain to hang down into the siphon tube. Take the chain and hook it to the bottom of the glass tube. Then add hot water to the bottom carafe until you reach the 5 mark. After that add the coffee grounds in the top chamber. You will need about 5 measuring spoons of coffee grounds. Add alcohol to the burner and then ignite the burner. Place the burner directly beneath the bottom water carafe. The water will take 4 minutes or so to heat unless you use hot water to start with. The water is siphoned through the glass tube and past the filter and ends up in the top chamber with the coffee grounds once the water reaches boiling temperatures. Let it brew for about 2 minutes and then remove the alcohol burner and cap it. After the water cools it gets siphoned back to the bottom carafe. Once it is siphoned into the bottom carafe remove the top and place it in the convertible lid/stand and bring the pot to the serving area. To remove the upper carafe you will need to gently rock it back and forth so that it can easily be removed. Drug stores stock the Isoproply alcohol so it is easily obtainable. If you want faster brewing you can switch to denatured alcohol which is stock in most hardware stores. Denatured alcohol will burn hotter and therefore heat the water faster leading to faster brewing. PROS:
