This shade grown coffee is grown on small farms in Chiapas, Mexico for Starbucks Mexican Blend Coffees. Grown in the buffer zone that is around the El Triunfo Biosphere reserve. Grown in the shade in this location in an effort to protect threatened ecosystems.
Growing the Arabica plants in partial shade protects them from direct sunlight and also brings benefits to the environment.
Such as supporting the local wildlife and bird population. A reduction in soil erosion and a natural improvement of the soil quality.
