Latte Coffee Information

Latte Coffee Information

As one of the most popular variants of coffee, Café Latte Coffee Drinks are made with a combination of coffee and hot milk, which is what the term means literally in Italian. While traditional recipes combined coffee with milk, modern variants on the café latte include a wide variant of flavors, brewing styles and serving setups. Ideal for coffee drinkers who want a milder version of an Italian cappuccino, the drink is served globally and highlights the impact of Italian coffee brewing on global consumption.

One of the most popular breakfast drinks, caffe latte drinks are popular for breakfast consumption, and combine either brewed coffee or espresso with steamed milk. Commonly served with a layer of froth on top and using dark roasted coffees, café lattes also come in a variety of regional variants with chai, match and rooibos flavors.

The drink has its origins in 19th century Italian coffee innovations where it quickly spread to the UK and American coffee brewing traditions. Modern latte drinks are most popular in major American cities such as San Francisco and New York, where the varieties are commonly brewed in large cups with rich, steamed milk. Ongoing innovation has produced unique variants based upon dark chocolate and spiced recipes. Calibrated with milk steamed to a particular temperature, the latte is served to exacting specifications and can be flavored with a variety of spices or syrups.

Traditional home recipes utilize ground espresso or dark roasted coffee, combined with filtered water, skim milk and sweetened with a variety of syrups or sugars. Commonly, latte coffee is flavored with chocolate, cinnamon or sugar, depending on the preference of the drinker. Often times, the milk is served lightly steamed with nutmeg or other spices to give it a unique flavor profile.
