To create your cinnamon coffee cake, all you really need is: two cups of flour, two teaspoons of baking power, a half cup of sugar a fourth teaspoon of salt, two tablespoons of softened butter, an egg, one cup of milk, half a teaspoon of cinnamon and one cup of brown sugar. It is that simple.

These are all common ingredients and you probably already have them in your home. That is part of the appeal of the cinnamon coffee cake; you do not need to go out and buy extensive additives. You already have them at your disposal.

Mix your flour, baking powder and salt together to start. Then, add in the butter and sugar, mixing well. You then want to add in the egg but, as you are stirring it up, pour in the milk. This needs to be a finer mixture when you are finished.

To create your topping, you will the cinnamon and brown sugar. Mix them together in a separate bowl.

When that is complete, pour your batter into your baking dish. Then, add the topping mixture on top. Pour it lightly, so that it actually stays on top, rather than just becoming part of the cake.

1 cup butter, softened
2 3/4 cups sugar, divided
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 eggs
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups sour cream
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
4 teaspoons cinnamon

Cream butter and 2 cups sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Add alternately with sour cream, beating lightly after each addition. Spoon 1/3rd of the batter into greased 10 inch tube pan. Mix nuts, cinnamon and remaining sugar. Sprinkle 1/3 over batter. Repeat layers 2 more times. Bake at 350* for 70 minutes, or until cake tests done.
